An award winnning composer

Charlie Lockwoood is an award-winning composer of music for video, games, theatre, and other media as well as concert works.

With a background in contemporary classical music, folk, and rock alongside a PhD in experimental electronic composition from the University of Birmingham, he is equally at home writing for orchestra, bands, or working entirely digitally, and enjoys pushing the boundaries of both genre and style.

His works have been performed at Aldeburgh Music Festival, BEAST FEaST, in collaboration with Delia Derbyshire Day, and have been scheduled for performance in the USA and Columbia. His recent work ‘The Bones of the Earth’ was premiered by renowned organist Mari Fukumoto, and other works have been performed in workshops by the Birmingham Contemporary Music Group and the Hermes Ensemble.

From bombastically epic to achingly tender, his music is exciting, attention-grabbing, and always focused first and foremost on telling a story.
